For many years now, the AGC of St. Louis has fostered the development of the professional and networking skills of younger persons in the construction industry through the activities of the Young Constructors Forum (YCF).  In 2008, AGC of America evaluated their YCF program and made the decision to alter the focus of the program from just young professionals to include mid management persons. To make this transition, the name Young Constructors Forum (YCF) was renamed the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).  The AGC of St. Louis adopted this name as well effective January 1, 2009.

The CLC was established to fulfill the need to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the construction industry, not just a particular age segment. The purpose of the CLC is to act as a conduit for participants to network, exchange ideas about work and the industry and serve local communities.  Members learn from programs and community service projects that are all designed to improve job related capabilities and leadership abilities.

Other changes and additions for have been made.  In the past, monthly happy hours have alternated between a number of locations throughout St. Louis.  In an effort to increase participation and structure, the steering committee has decided to make Helen’s Fitzgerald’s the main location for the happy hours and the Hacienda Restaurant the venue for the professional development happy hours.  Another addition that the committee has instituted is the creation of a Facebook group.

The Construction Leadership Council Steering Committee is excited about the name change and the new emphasis on leadership development.  Members of the committee have organized several events including three fundraisers, several monthly happy hours and other fun activities.

At this time, we’d like to thank you for your interest and involvement in the YCF and hope you continue to take advantage of the benefits that the CLC will provide in the future.  We also ask you to consider others whom you work with who would benefit form being involved in the CLC and encourage them to participate.
